Little Boys

It seems we've seen a lot of sweet little boys lately. And if you thought I was going to write about the sex of our baby, please just hold tight for a few more days; I hope to be updating you later this week after our Wednesday ultrasound! I mention this because I wore a pink shirt to work today, and a group of 3 women came up to me grinning knowingly and asked, "Are you trying to tell us something, Sarah?? Are you having a girl?" I had to let them down gently and explain that I don't know the sex of the baby yet, and I really just felt like wearing pink today. The little boys I'm referring to are my 3 Flagstaff nephews with whom we spent Christmas, and then baby Sean, whose baptism we attended as godparents earlier this month in Nebraska.

Our Arizona Christmas wasn't as warm as it sounds, but it was comfier than the below zero temps we've been living in lately! We, with my Mom and David, spent relaxing yet rambunctious days with my brother Brent, his wife Pam, and their 3 boys. Probably the most memorable was going sledding with inner tubes and plastic paddles at a local park. Isaiah was hesitant at first, but after watching his reckless brother speed down the slope, he eased right in to the fun. We also celebrated Isaiah's 6th birthday, which initiated with a hearty homemade breakfast of french toast from his daddy. He is a clever little guy; at breakfast that morning, Brent mentioned to Pam that he was going to probably take the boys S-L-E-D-D-I-N-G later that day. (He spelled it out). Isaiah waited a moment and then asked, "Sledding?" Malakai continues to delight us all with his spunky, full-throttle ways. And dear little Delani is a smiley, easy baby, qualities we hope for in our soon-coming little one.

A few weekends ago, John and I drove down for a short weekend to Seward, Nebraska to attend the baptism of Sean Guess, the son of Nick and his wife Carrie. Nick was John's roommate for most of college, and they still keep in touch fairly frequently. Sweet baby Sean is just now over 3 months old and generally calm and observant. When we first held him, he just peered lengthily at us with his gloriously huge eyes. We also enjoyed hanging out with the Guess family in Seward and doing some much needed, albeit brief, reconnecting while muching on Carrie's tasty omelets and playing Guitar Hero.

Mom, John, and I are doing fairly well. Mom continues her work at the nearby Hancock Fabrics Store, and John has just started his 3rd week with his unannounced first student teacher! I'm still loving work, including a recent 6 year old little girl who gently requested my stethoscope from me during a history and physical and then sternly said "Shhhhhhh!!" while I was talking with her mother, so she could carefully decipher my heartbeat. She was at first very concerned that I had no heartbeat, but when I directed the stethoscope to the proper location, her eyes widened, and she reassured me that it was, indeed, there. Phew!

I pray all is well with each of you! Thank you for your updates when you have time.

I think he liked it
Isaiah, amidst the sledding and birthday excitement, was still willing to pose for me
