July 4th

John, Ben, Sam, and I survived the 8 hour drive to Seward last Friday!

We got to spend quality time with the Werners and with Great Grandpa Gus. Sam also got to meet Great Grandma Nita, and I wish I would have brought the camera; they just delighted each other. Sam giggled and giggled, and Nita performed her best for him, making lots of fun faces and noises.

John also got to meet up with his college roommate and best man, Nick, and his family at the July 4th parade. Ben and Sean (Nick's oldest; the second little guy is due next month!) learned the vital skills of rushing for and tasting candy, and Ben enjoyed all the fun noises and people.

We didn't get to see the Seward fireworks, as they were delayed a day in anticipation of rainy weather. Instead, John and I enjoyed a walk by ourselves, the clear starry sky, and the fireworks purchased by the neighbors.

Highlights:
  • Singing Peace in church with Michael, Jessica, Theron, and John
  • Ben "helping" his Aunt Jessica with muffins
  • Sam giggling uncontrollably with his Great Grandma Nita and later with his daddy
  • Ben learning about Grandpa Dave's motorcycle (don't worry, it didn't leave the driveway)
  • Ben and Sean dancing together at the parade, no music necessary
  • A walk alone with my husband!
